[Travel] Penang 2014

HELLO!

So last weekend, I went on a 3D2N trip to Penang with the boyfriend and friends. The trip in simple terms was EAT-BEACH-EAT-EAT-EAT. So beware. There is going to be A LOT of food pictures.

Day 1

Before heading to Penang, we had breakfast at Ipoh. Foh Shan dim sum. Long time no eat!

Then, we headed for a 3-journey to Penang.

On the way to Penang.

With the boyfriend.

We crossed the sea from the mainland to the island by ferry. I love ferry rides!

After touching down the island, the food hunting began. First thing on the list, famous mee sotong! "Best in the world!"

Doesn't look that appetizing on camera but it takes pretty good. RM5 per plate. You can either have it rebus style or goreng style. We had both and I liked both versions just as well.

Don't know who took this picture =.= But because it's so ugly, I shall put it here for entertainment.

After that, was BEACH time! Golden Sands :)

I tried para sailing for the first time. And it was exhilarating! The wind was especially strong that day and I am especially light. And I was unusually high up. And I have an especially imaginative mind. And I could see jelly fishes down below... many jelly fishes. And jelly fishes sting.

But what an experience! RM90 well spent!

The princess and the 3 boys.

L-R Moi, the boyfriend, the Penang lang and the KING.

Dinner we went to a place near by. Check out this hotplate yee mee. Check out ze PRAWNSSS.

Coffee Jelly!

So YUMSSS. I really enjoyed this although I was a bit full from all the food during the course of the day. But really very yums I tell you. The Irish cream with eaten with thin slices of jelly. So yums.

Apparently this got in the newspaper. I can't really remember the title it won but it was something like "MOST YUMS COFFEE IN THE WORLD."

After that, we went for a walk around Straits Quay at night. Beautiful scenes. Didn't take any pictures of the place but I can picture it so clearly in my mind. Go google bah. Haha.

Day 2

Kopi C Bing.

Another famous curry mee we tried by the road side. Apparently the 3 old ladies working there for god knows how long are quite famous. Every now and then, photographers here and there snapped pictures of them.

THIS.

One of the most famous char kuey teow stalls in Penang. The stall opens at 3pm. We started queuing up at 3.05pm. And we waited for an hour! Mad popular like nobody's business.

Queued up for you!!!! I am proud I got to try this one. The Penang lang, after staying in Penang for 20+ years actually tasted this char kuey teow for the first time that day.

Later in the evening we went to Botanical Garden for a jog. Because we're awesome. Although I was sticky and sweaty and gasping for breath most of the time, I'm still awesome.

For dinner, we went to Northam Beach :)

Northam Beach for dinner! The view was amazinnngggggg! Sea view leh.

The KING, the boyfriend, the me.

Dinner later that night, we went to a place nearby Penang lang's house.

Day 3

Breakkie!

Penang lang's sister's hotel. Woodwork House. If you head down to Penang, give this place a shot. Very, very, very well maintained and very nicely furnished. Tell her Miyen brought you there! *hehehehehe*

So pretty right! So young, already set up a hotel. *inspiration*

After that, we left for KL at about 3 to 4pm. On the way, we passed by KAMPAR (HOME SWEET HOME) to go to Tanjung Tualang for dinner.

The gang. I like my snobbish face.

AND THAT'S ALL! Ok, gotta go get ready for work liao. Enjoy your mid week people! :)

Silkgirl Moisture Boost Lipbalm Review and Updates

Hiya!

Sorry for the super long hiatus. Again. What with all the packing and shifting... and re-shifting again, settling in a new job, new people bla bla bla.

Working life so far is surprisingly prettyyyy enjoyable. So far! I'm nearly a month old in my new place and I'm loving it (because I have a packet of McD in front of me that says it).

A hell lot of things happened in the first 2 weeks that forced me to shift rooms in a span of a few days! Expensive lesson learnt but I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE NEW ROOM OMAIGOD THANK YOU GOD. So glad what happened, happened. I have an awesome family. The AWESOMEST.

ANYWAY. On to a mini review.

So I bought Silkygirl's Moisture Boost Lipcolor Balm because when I swatched the color, it turned out very pretty on my lips. Silkygirl's products usually don't appeal to me, but these color balms were really cheap (abourt RM18 each) and the packaging looked quite sturdy.

I bought 2 colors: Coral and Poppy. I left Poppy in the office so I only managed to take pictures of Coral.

Coral is a sweet, soft pinky-peach color. Poppy on the other hand is an orangey color. Poppy shows up nicer on my lips. Coral accentuates the fact that my lips are maroon. And I prefer brighter colors since my lips are on the darker/paler side. Still, I do enjoy both colors.

It's quite moisturising and the color is buildable. Tip: scrub your lips before applying.

The downside is that this product has terrible, terrible lasting power. Sorry, but the moment I drink water, the color washes away like zzoooppp. And being in an air-conditioned environment, I am constantly chugging down water. So by the first hour, it really looks like I have nothing on my lips.

Tip: Refrain from drinking or eating with this lipbalm on (??)

Ok the end. My back aching like a mother and I need a bath.

Till next time. Ciao!

Moving to the city!

SO EXCITED.

I'll be moving to the city SOON because I will be starting my first real job as a graduate next month. So many things to pack and buy. This is going to mark another milestone in my life. But I'll miss my family for sure :(

Was sick for 2 days but I'm feeling much better today. I have approximately 2 days to buy the rest of the stuff on my list.

Because I'll be living on a budget at least for the first few months, I've been cracking my head over what to buy in terms of food items.

My place is very convenient IF I have a car. But the reality is I don't yet. Not for the next few months. There are no cheap food stalls within walking distance (actually yes if you consider 1-2km walking distance). So I really have to plan my meals carefully.

I'm thinking that I will most probably cook my meals (at least for dinner on the weekdays) in my rented place. Just hoping that the kitchen has most of the appliances I need.

I am so going to prepare myself this time.

The last time I did my internship in the city, everything was just very inconvenient and I was always deadbeat tired after work. BUT NO, NOT THIS TIME.

LET THE PANIC PACKING BEGIN

Birthdays and changes to my blog name

So as you can see, I have done a few changes to my blog. Simply (pun intended) because I wanted a change and to amp up my privacy online.

OK explanation done.

So do take note of the name change, spread the word and stuff. While you're at it, you can follow me on Instagram (@mmiyenn). Because I love Instagram.

***

So I celebrated my birthday last Sunday. My last birthday celebrated with the fam before starting work life :'(

Also, this year extra special because the fam bought me a Secret Recipe cake :)

"Happy Birthday TO Miyen"

You know how you're supposed to write on a piece of paper, the birthday wish and the name of the person on the cake to the staff? My siblings forced me to write my own birthday wish to the Secret Recipe staff *slaps face*

Bananas in the background.

It was a happy day :)

Also, celebrated his birthday with his fam earlier in the month.

Oh and his birthday also marked our XXXth year together. Happy XXX years together! Heh.

Hung out with this girl a few billion times before she went off to Uni life last week. She and I were the new kids in class when I first shifted schools in Perak. And we basically saved each other from loneliness and awkwardness in our new environment back then.

Ok that should be enough.

Till my next post! Which most probably will be a review.

xoxo
